The Ultimate Daytona 500 Party for a Happy Daytona Day
We have our guest list completed, food has been decided, so now it’s time for my favorite part- Decorating for our Daytona 500 Party! Each year, I try to add to make our annual Daytona party decorations. In the past, because I was super busy at work, I didn’t really have the time to use anything other than themed party items from Party City. I really needed to think about items, which could be reused each year because I hate purchasing items I end up throwing away.
Using cheesy stuff just had to be red flagged!
I decided I needed to make sure I had it straight in my head: creating great decor takes time. I also decided I needed to only add a few items each year for our Daytona party. Adding a few things each year keeps things exciting and fresh for our guests. It also gives plenty of time to find great sales and to create quality items.
Your Daytona 500 Party Begins at the Start/Finish Line
Welcoming your guest to a Daytona 500 party day starts at the front door. I wanted a wreath I could use year after year, but most importantly, a wreath I could use for several other important races, including the Indy 500. I knew I wouldn’t find a race themed wreath unless I created one. Check out my cute clothes pin wreath for an amazing and possible idea for a Daytona Party wreath. While I love my clothes pin wreath, I wanted something a little different this time around. The decision: a tulle wreath.
I know….it sounds quite feminine, but it is NOT! I went with a “checkered flag” look by using black and white matte tulle. (No glitter!) I spray painted my letters and purchased small race cars to add some fun. I plan to find some Indy cars; however, it might have to wait until I get to Indy in May. There was not One. Single. Indy. Car. at Target. The NASCAR choices were also far and few. We have tons of die cast cars; however, the husband would not be too hoppy if I used them on the wreath!
Pit Stops are Critical for any NASCAR race
Pits stops can make or break a race and your party. Guest MUST know where they can make their pit stops. Create this super cute fabric wreath to put on your bathroom door.

Speed Weeks for your Daytona 500 Party
Once the guests are inside, it’s time to think about your tables. Where in the world can you find table runners or table cloths for a racing party? Well, you could go to Party City and get a paper or plastic one you could trash OR you could quickly make your own.
I went to JoAnn’s fabrics and found some great fabric with a race theme. It was even on sale! Some iron-on hem tape and an hour later, I had custom table clothes. The best part: After the party, I can use some stain stick and throw the table-cloth into the washer so we will be good to go for next year.
